Wachovia Bank and Trust opened in 1879. Over the years Wachovia has merged with many different banks. The last merger was with First Union Corporation in 2001. Wachovia's headquarters are in Wachovia, North Carolina. You can find branches in 22 states, along the east coast and in the mid-west.

They offer six checking accounts.

2) FREE STUDENT CHECKING ACCOUNT
- Offers all the same benefits as the "FREE CHECKING"
- For college students, 18 or older

- Free money transfers in to the account
- 12 free ATM withdrawals from a non bank ATM a month

3) ACCESS FIFTY CHECKING
- For people 50 years and older
- $1.00 to open account
- No monthly balance to maintain or monthly fee
- Free online banking and Bill Pay
- Discounted checks
- Free debit card with rewards
- Unlimited check writing and ATM use
- Free Fraud and Identity protection

4) CROWN ACCESS CHECKING
- Minimum $1,500 to open and maintain for no monthly fees (otherwise $15.00 a month)
- Offers all of the basic benefits of the three other accounts
- PLUS: Free checks and unlimited check writing.
- * This account can be used with another account, such as savings to maintain the minimum balance to avoid the fees.

5) CROWN CHECKING
- Minimum of $5,000 or a $20 monthly fee
- This account offers all the basics of the other four accounts
- PLUS: Free safe deposit box, No fee for money orders, cashiers checks, bank drafts or travelers checks.
- This is an ideal account for small businesses.

6) CROWN SELECT ACCOUNT
- Minimum balance is $10,000. Monthly fee of $25
- Offers all of the other benefits
- PLUS: Free checks
