To suggest that "one's faith shouldn't influence their vote" is impossible.
What is faith? Faith may be defined as one's beliefs. Too many times people associate faith with ethereal, religious hopes. But beliefs in God or religion is simply the finest of tips. Humanists have faith in man. Psychiatrists have faith in the mind. Doctors have faith in medicine. Everyone believes in something.
Everyone has beliefs on political issues as well. Some believe Democrat is the way to go. Others believe Republican is the one to vote. From abortion to immigration to homeland security . . . a voter's beliefs on these issues determines the outcome of their vote.
It's humanly impossible to make a decision within a vacuum. So the question becomes rhetorical. Any argument to the contrary would be a self-defeating. The simple act of writing an article outlining how a person's faith shouldn't influence their vote would be allowing their own faith to mold their reasoning.
Believe what you want. Vote according to those beliefs. It's impossible to do anything else.
