ready to employ guerilla tactics, including torture, if and when necessary. Sayid also acts as the show's "science officer."

Charlie Pace: Dead. You probably recognize Charlie from the "Lord of the Rings" movie; he played Merry. But in Lost, he is the dark rock and roller, a heroin-abuser, now gone straight. His love interest is Claire (see below) and her new baby boy (not his child). He drowned on the 2007 season finale.

Hugo "Hurley" Reyes: The funny and lovable Hurley is the show's weight-challenged character. But he is also an L.A. multi-millionaire having won the lottery before ending up on the island. Hurley is wonderful comic relief. He set up the island's first golf tournament.

Sun-Hwa Kwon: She only recently became more than a secondary character; she is also one of the few wives who survived the plane crash along with their husbands. She is married to Jin-Soo (see below). Sun is also full of secrets that threatened her relationship with Jin. She is now pregnant with his child.

Jin-Soo: This handsome oriental man has risen in importance. He is married to Sun. They are expecting their first child. Jin is learning English since crashing on the island. He has many issues, too, including his relationship with Sun's overbearing father.

Eko Tunde: Dead. This priest-type character was killed by the island's mysterious killer animal.

Michael Dawson: One of the first major characters. He crashed onto the island along with his son, Walter (see below). He recently disappeared on a boat, along with his son, Walt (see below).

Ana Lucia Cortez: Dead. She was one of the survivors from the tail section of the plane (the tailies). The show's creators killed her off after she (the actress) was arrested for drunk driving in Hawaii.

Claire Littleton: This pretty Australian blonde arrived on the island fully pregnant. She gave birth to her son, Aaron, on the island shortly after the crash. She is involved with Charlie. She is a secondary character who comes into play now and then.

Desmond Hume: This exotic Scotsman was in a sailing race; his borrowed boat, the Elizabeth, was wrecked and he ended up a slave in the island's mysterious Dharma project. His future is unknown because on the 2007 season finale he was in an underwater lock, watching Charlie die.

Benjamin Linus aka Henry Gale: This character is perhaps Lost's most brilliant creation. Ben, with his odd bulging eyes, is an absolute mystery. He is behind many of the strange-goings on, he communes with an invisible force called, Jacob, and he is a ruthless killer. He arrived on the island with his father, years back, as a young boy. He later killed his own father.

Juliet Burke: This fertility doctor recently switched sides. She was introduced as one of Ben's people, but she joined forces with Jack, when Ben wouldn't allow her to leave the island. She is a terrific enigmatic character, full of surprises.

Boone Carlyle: Dead. One of the show's initial main characters. He is brother to Shannon (see below).

Shannon Rutherford: Dead. She was also one of the show's main characters in the first season. This spoiled little rich girl got involved with Sayid, and was killed off soon after.

Walt Lloyd: Walt is Michael's estranged son. He was kidnapped by the "Others," but he makes strange appearances from time to time. He recently left the island by boat with his father.

Bernard and Rose Nadler: This married couple shows up from time to time. Rose crashed with the front section of the plane; Bernard was with the tailie survivors. They have since been reunited.

It is almost certain we will be seeing Jack, Kate, Sawyer, John, Sayid, Hugo, Ben, Juliet, Sun and Jin in the next season. But then again; maybe not. Lost is so full of surprises.
