Are people born gay?

This is a response to a common argument for the idea that people are born gay

"No matter how many times people claim that being gay is a 'choice', I will never believe that to be true. I do not know anyone who is gay, lesbian, bisexual or trans gender that would 'choose' to be someone who is ostracized by most segments in society and is not afforded the same rights as a majority of society."

This is faulty logic. Do people choose to be alcoholics? Do they choose to be drug addicts? Do people choose to be child abusers or Spouse abusers? You bet they do! For people who chose to be any of the above, they will be ostracized by EVERY segment in Society and will have their rights TAKEN AWAY. If I were a drug abuser, could I look someone in the eye and say, "I was born a drug abuser?" You would laugh me right into my jail cell.

Humans are inherently evil. I know it is hard for allot of people to hear this, because the media and schools across the nation are giving us a very different message. Ever since we knew what right and wrong was, humans can be found taking the wrong path. That is not to say that we are not capable of great deeds of goodness. We know what is right and what is wrong. No one can say that telling a lie is right, or killing another human is right, or being envious is right, or sleeping with your neighbor's wife is right. But humans commit these acts all the time. Can we then shake our fist to God and say, "You made me a liar!" and then continue to lie? Certainly not. We know it is wrong, and we should strive to lie no more. The same principal should be applied to homosexuality.

Further, we who have already taken the wrong path in other areas should be careful when condemning homosexuals. We all do wrong. It is our responsibility to speak truth to the wrong in others life. It is not our responsibility to condemn the person that is doing the wrong. Why do I make this distinction? because in condemning someone else you are also condemning yourself. This is why we hear so frequently, "people who condemn others are hypocrites." They speak the truth.

Next time you are in such a debate. Take a moment to check yourself. Before you repeat what you heard on the News or your favorite sitcom. check to see if it is logical.
