enjoying the clean rural air. The second week is when things began to get strange!

I began to feel that someone was always watching me. I would be reading or watching a movie, and suddenly a feeling of fear and terror would come from nowhere. This feeling was not normal for me. I grew up in a tough inner city. When you see violence and killing all around you, it takes a lot to make you afraid. I have also been a martial artist for thirty five years and I am an excellent swordsman. I never go too far without my walking sword. Anyone who has seen the movie "Blind Fury" has seen the sword I own.

This sudden feeling of terror went on for weeks. It was really wierd. One minute I would be gardening or reading and then, out of nowhere I could feel something watching me. Then the noises started! I started to hear whispers, like people talking. Then footsteps. It was really bad at night. I would hear noises and come out of the bedroom and see dark outlines and shadowy figures moving past me in empty hallways.

This went on for nearly two months, the activity getting worse as each day went by. It grew so strong that I decided to get a dog, but even he seemed frightened and nervous. He never wanted to sleep alone. I did not want to leave because the place was so beautiful, more beautiful than anyplace I have lived. One thing that was puzzling is why (being a Christian) my efforts to drive these spirits away, continued to fail. I would soon learn why!

One Saturday afternoon I felt a strong urge to drive to a local Post office. This was strange, because there was another Post office much closer to the house. Ironically I met a man who new the owner and the history of the house. He informed me that the entire property was owned by a man who was very involved with spiritualism. This man had decided to start his own religion, mixing spiritualist beliefs with Christianity, which is always very bad. Anything can happen! You can open a door to hell itself.

Many people in the town were his followers and accepted this mans perverse teachings. However, there were some who considered this man controversial, and viewed him has a false prophet. As I went home I knew there was not much I could do. The property belonged to this man, and he could invite any spirits he wanted to abide there. As long as he wanted them to be there and he owned the property, they had every right to stay.

That same night I was sitting in the main room, reading. It all seemed so strange to me. I came to that place to rest and rebuild. Instead I walked into a spiritual battle that I was not prepared for. I decided to lay down and watch TV, when suddenly an unseen hand struck me on the right leg with great force. It was more like a hard slap, that left quite a mark on my leg. That night the noises and voices were terrible That was it for me! Within one week I was gone.

I learned a great lesson from that incident. It is very important to learn the history of an area before you move there. It is equally important to learn something about the community and its spiritual beliefs. And a word to the wise is sufficient!
