Warm up before doing exercise!
Before you do any kind of exercising it is important to warm up. The benefit of warming up is to prepare you for your workout or sport playing. A warm up usually lasts between 5 10 minutes. It helps get your heart rate going, increase oxygen levels in your body, warm up your muscles and increase your energy levels.
A warm up can involve jogging on the spot, swinging the arms, bending and straightening the knees and legs, doing head rolls, leg lunges and squats, jumping jacks, power walking. If you were going to the gym you could do a 10 minute easy run on the running machine, bike ride on the studio bikes, a 10 minute power walk on the treadmill, power stepper or any other cardio your gym may have.
Once you've warmed up you should do 5 minutes of stretching to prepare the muscles and ligaments for the exercise activity you're about to do. These stretching exercises could be hamstring, calf and ankle stretches, stretches with your arms, neck, upper and lower back stretches.
