To start with the obvious, men and women are fundamentally different. Our brains are wired differently from the get go, and it takes different things for the opposite sexes to become aroused. Men are aroused by visual cues, while women are aroused by verbal cues. Without going too far into the biology of it, more of a woman's brain is devoted to language. Women read romance novels, men go to strip clubs, watch porn and look at graphic magazines. Now that the forms of entertainment that engage a man are easier to understand, we can go forward without holding basic biology against the gender.

Men, especially those in long-term relationships, may look to adult entertainment to satisfy their need for variety. Biologically speaking, men are hardwired to sleep with as many women as possibly, while women have a tendency to find one male and keep that partner for as long as possible. This was good for the species before we were civilized. Men wanted to spread their genes to as many offspring as they could, while women needed to keep the men to protect them. While this is no longer the case, it is unreasonable to expect thousands of years of genetic predisposition to disappear instantly. Society and evolution simply cannot move at the same speed. In our current society, men have two conflicting urges; They want to sleep with as many women as possible while adhering to what is socially acceptable. Adult entertainment relieves them of this cognitive dissonance. They have the fantasy of sleeping with many women while only sleeping with one in reality.

Take home points for each sex would be: Men, don't feel guilty about viewing adult entertainment. So long as you don't let the fantasy encroach in your day-to-day life, it harms no one.

Women: When your partner watches porn or goes to a strip club, it is not because you have done anything wrong, nor is it because you are lacking in some way. Your man is with you because he wants you, no the plastic version of a women he is fantasizing about. If his trips to strip clubs make you uncomfortable, try going with him. I can almost guarantee your presence will be more then welcome.
