Lost has become lost to me recently unfortunately .(I have pinched this saying from the Lost advertising ) This is because it is no longer on mainstream English Television or Free-view only on Sky One . However as soon as I am able to I shall buy the latest series on DVD . I love Lost with it's strange but fascinating plots and wonderful characters .

To set the scene a flight leaves Australia with what turns out to be a real mish mash of character on board . As we later discover many of these characters have links with each other and have met unbeknown to each other in bars or the like . The plane crashes on what seems to be a deserted tropical Island and this is where Lost begins .There are many theories as to where Lost is going and what it is really about . Only time will tell but one thing for sure is the characters are great .

There are about a dozen or so main characters who have been there from the start . Others have had small roles or been introduced as the plot and series develops .There are many sub-plots and each week we discover more about a particular character and their past life .

I shall start my guide to the characters with my favourite Sawyer .

JAMES SAWYER FORD
Sawyer is not actually his name . He has taken it from the man he believes wrecked his childhood and who he sought vengeance on . He is basically a con-man but a sexy , bit of rough , with a softer side ,hunk of a character . So I guess you know what I like about him .

DR JACK SHEPHERD
I suppose Jack is another one for the ladies although he doesn't do it for me . He is a spinal surgeon who like all the characters has his own special reasons for being on the flight . He tends to appear in most episodes and is a leader , particularly at the start just after the crash . He tries to hold things together and create some order on the island .

KATE AUSTEN
One for the boys here in the very attractive shape of Kate . She turns out to be an unlikely fugitive for many reasons . She was actually handcuffed to a marshall on the plane , who was taking her for trial having pursued her for three years .As usual there are many twists with Kate's history and a small toy plane is ,significantly , involved .Kate provides some love interest with Jack and Sawyer .

JOHN LOCKE
Locke is a strange character . He initially appears to be a macho hard man , possibly someone from the forces . It turns out he had rather more mundane work .We find out later he was confined to a wheelchair prior to the crash and could not
