I am also a statistic here I was only 18 when I became pregnant with my oldest daughter. I didn't finish school however, and haven't been able to get my GED. I made a lot of mistakes in my youth, but my daughter was not one of them. I remember one of my dads family members telling me. "It takes courage to keep a child out of wed-lock, but it takes even more courage to put that child up for adoption." She kept on telling me I should have put my daughter up for adoption. Why can't people just understand that it is difficult being a teenage mom, and yes I agree that it takes more courage to adopt your baby out. I know I would've if I didn't think I could raise her on my own. I did it making minimum wage and I only stayed with my mom for a few months after my daughter was born, and then I hastily got married to stop any gossip about me not being married. He is not her biological father, but has raised her as his own and gave her his last name.
So yes I am a statistic but it can be done if you are willing to try. I'm not saying you should go and get pregnant in your teenage years it is better to wait until you've at least completed high school as it is easier to get a better paying job, but if it does happen to you just know you are not alone in the world a lot of us out there are or were in the same position as you!
