How many times have you completely put an assignment or exam out of your mind, thinking it was much later, only to have a last minute panic when someone tells you its due in a couple of days? This is an all too common experience in college. So many students have never experienced what it is like to be in charge of their own lives, and with this new found freedom comes a new found responsibility. We no longer have our teachers or mothers pestering us to get to work. Instead, we have to stay on top of our ownd deadlines.
This is where a day planner becomes your new best friend. Without it, you will probably become lost and forgetful. This day planner is about to take a front row seat in your life.
A day planner should include all important assesment dates, including assignments, exams, practical sessions, lectures, and any other relevant college related event. However, you should also use it to keep yourself on track. Record your study hours, enter reminders a week or two before an exam or assignment, and track your progress. This way you are always on top of your college requirements and will not be subject to the last minute panic because you had not recorded the dates anyway.
Your day planner will also help get you to classes on time, as each day you can refer to when and where you are due to be somewhere and ensure that you never miss an important lecture. You can also schedule in your social activies and other committments, such as work, so that you can see how it all fits into your day-to-day schedule.
And you will most likely find that the day planner becomes your best friend beyond college also, and you rely on its records to keep you organised right into your future life and career.
