No, people should be voting not based totally upon their religious belief though they may use it as a guideline as they use it for many other choices in their personal lives.
Guidelines in making decisions always are to be that as guidelines to resolve an inaccurate idea of how to vote. Just because one potential elected officials ideas of Christianity doesn't mesh with yours doesn't mean they won't do what is both lawful and in the best interest of their constituents and to assume they will is both UN-Christian like and not a good way to vote.
An assumption that a candidates beliefs on such things as Abortion are automatically they are going to try to change the legality one-way or another is ludicrous and fool-hearty having no true bearing on your decision. Just because they are running for office, their personal beliefs should not be assumed to automatically change their way of serving the majority of their constituency one way or another.
When living in one of the most free will countries in the world we should allow our candidates to keep what makes them individuals without assuming those things will automatically ruin or change the way your beliefs in our country are accepted.
There is nothing wrong with listening to your religious leaders leaning you one way or another but, be sure your voting your conscious not someone else's. Otherwise, your not truly voting as an individual as our political system is based instead your voting almost liken to a lobbyist format where those with power and influence taint the system thus, reducing our right to both individuality and freedom to vote.
Understanding what the candidates truly stand for and how they want to benefit the rest of America and their constituency should be first and foremost on your mind avoiding their personal beliefs as those should not be influencing their political agenda. If it is then they should not be running and you should not be voting for them either period.
In America, there are so many different religions and beliefs that this should not be keeping anyone from either running from office or elected. Moreover, if it is, does then why are we in the land of the free?
All too often, these days we are so judgmental and quick to condemn those who do not think or believe the way we do and when we do this we become no better than people in other countries who do not like America or what we stand for.
