While I perish like the body of a carp washed up on land
flesh picked carelessly off by birds
bones scattered by feet and words
will my presence have made a difference
the tide reaches over my body and stifles my screams
wont the flies carry away my skin
little by little taking me in
destroying my body my downhearted soul
gnaw at my flesh and leave me with holes
when the dawn finally breaks in the distance and we see the time slipping
rapidly through our fingers
when the hurt that I feel in our spirit no longer lingers
what will we do where will we go
all the faith we possessed has flown away
gingerly climbing the sky like
the meekest butterfly
