Biography: Edward Brooke

No he's not the marine insurance specialist that quotes insurance and deals with proposals, As a matter of fact the proposals he deals with are in the Senate. A Prestigious member of the republican party. He is a Washington born Massachusetts Senator and Howard University graduate which he got accepted into when he was 16 years old. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. Spent years in active military service where he achieved the rank of captain and was awarded a Bronze star.


A vigorous prosecutor of organized crime when he served as attorney general of Massachusetts. The first African-American senator since the Reconstruction and the first and only senator to be re-elected by popular vote. He was on the President's Commission on Civil Disorders which investigated causes of riots in America.Through this, he made recommendations that took shape as the Civil Rights Act. He was also the first senator to call for Nixon's resignation. Upon leaving the senate, he headed the National Low-income Housing Coalition. Author of "The Challenge of Change." Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush.
The first African-American to be elected as State Attorney General.
He was discredited for his deceit in his finances and divorce, he was criticized for being too liberal by conservatives, and too conservative by liberals.
