The scariest moment in my life was almost a year ago when I nearly lost my son. He was already upset and crying. I was trying to get him to eat and he just could not seem to figure it out. He suddenly turned a bluish-gray and went limp. I held him up and turned him over. I just wanted him to breath again. I was panicked. I began to yell his name over and over - Skyler! I grabbed for the phone and dialed 911. Then I called my mother.
She called my husband as my daughter and I ran outside with Skyler to watch for the ambulance. When the ambulance finally arrived the technician to my infant son from my arms. My body was shaking as I cried and held myself asking if he was going to make it all the while praying: "God please let him be okay, Please don't take him from me already."
When we arrived at the hospital the doctors found that Skyler had some fluid in his throat from birth and while he was trying to drink at the same time it blocked his airway, thus causing him to stop breathing.
God answered my prayers that day, and spared my son's life. I am reminded that God hears our most desperate of prayers even when it feels like He is not there He is holding us close.
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." -Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV Bible)
