Poetry: Following your heart

Here I am on this path.
They say I'm where I'm meant to be,
to trust and follow to succeed.
So on I go,
trying to blindly see,
but all this seems contradicting to me.
I have to explore,
have to see for myself,
what this life is all about.
Don't want to regret,
when I'm old,
that all I did,
was what I was told.
Like a virus in the brain,
the fight against the norm remains.
Must question,
must wonder,
must decide for myself.
Or all I become,
is just another doll on the shelf.
