Simply put,no.
Human beings are by nature self-centered. They thrive on getting attention and amassing all glory and honor to themselves. Consequently they'll do anything to get that attention. Just like a five year old who throws a tantrum or a lost teen who dresses in all black and pierces all the hanging flesh on their bodies.
Television has become a multiple-channel course in anthropology and the lessons learned aren't pretty.
What do we learn?
1. Profanity is welcome. Say what you want, don't worry, we have a "bleep." Unfortunately the real world doesn't.
2. Sex is the key. What used to be only behind closed doors is there for all to see. Even when we have no desire to see it.
3.Cheating, lying, and manipulation are the keys to success. This undercuts the fabric of our country that true success rises from the ashes of determination and hard work.
I will say, though, that legitimate competitions (like game shows) that can dictate the amount of a gaudiness that naturally oozes from mankind are fine. Human beings being tested makes for great T.V.
Unfortunately not every reaction a human being has to being tested should be televised.
