His charming smile
hid a cruel mind
His gentle eyes
belied his crimes
His graceful hands
changed into fists
and many a lie
fell from his lips
His laugh was easy
and bought him love
but tainted and torn
from the first shove
His power was fear
instilled from the start
only a month before
he broke her heart
His sorrys were many
his tears were cold
purple her bruises
new and old
Ten years passed
he made her life hell
a husk of a human
no one she could tell
Until one day
she snapped inside
a knife in her hand
a scream and a cry
He lay on the floor
fear in his eyes
a plea on his tongue
she ignored his cries
His charming smile
faded and waned
His fists relaxed
with his blood now stained
She turned and left
as he took his last sigh
and through swollen lips
murmured a goodbye....
