Strawberries can be preserved or stored simply as such in air tight containers. To preserve strawberries, convert it into squash, jam or wine and store in the freezer. Take red strawberries that are firm and remove the stems if any. Remove all damaged strawberries. Pick the good firm strawberries and wash under tap water. Allow to
drain all the water.
To just freeze and use strawberries for future use:
1.Freezing strawberries without sugar: Take good ripe and firm and wrap in aluminum foils individually. Then stack in an airtight container or freezer storage bags. Seal it tight and freeze it. Storing strawberries without sugar can be a great way to provide strawberries to diabetics and for others who prefer less or no sugar at all.
2.Freezing strawberries with sugar syrup: Take warm water and dissolve the sugar or add sugar into boiling water and stir until it gains thick consistency. Now cut strawberries into small pieces and stack one over the other in an airtight container. Allow the sugar syrup to cool and pour sugar syrup over it. Fill the sugar syrup about a cm from the top of stacked strawberries and stir well. Close the container and freeze.
3.Freezing strawberries with layered powdered sugar: Buy powdered sugar and prepare the strawberries as mentioned above. Layer the strawberries in an airtight container. Then add powdered sugar over strawberries and then add more strawberries and sugar. Repeat the procedure until all the strawberries are stacked. Close the container airtight and push it to the freezer compartment.
Frozen strawberries remains fresh and can be used until the next strawberry season. Freeze and get the steady supply of strawberries all round the year!
Tips to remember:
1.Use firm and red strawberries for freezing.
2.Use dry spoons to take out strawberries air tight containers.
