Exercise & pregnancy: Fitness advice for mothers-to-be

I think as soon as you find out your pregnant you should see your doctor and ask them this question. Pregnant women were not meant to sit around for nine months. Thats ridiculous. If you are active before your pregnancy why not be active during it? I understand that some of the activities you do will have to change, but still there are lots of ways to keep fit for those nine months.

Walking is always highly recommended. Its great for the body and baby. Its easy going and there is no money involved which is always a good thing. You can also get your partner involved, literally every step of the way.

Inquire at your local sports center, they usually run at least one antenatal water aerobics class. This allows you to spend time keeping fit, with women who are going through exactly the same as you.

Yoga has become huge over the past through years with some many health benefits. Yoga for pregnancy is also becoming more and more popular. Look out for classes in your area.

If you don't have the time to go to classes to keep fit, or just can't find any locally you can always work out at home. There are many fitness dvd's for pregnancy so just have a look on line to find the right one for you.

Also just follow normal exercise safety aspects, lots of water and stop if you feel any pain. Remember to speak to your doctor before starting any exercise regime.
