Most likely my "fan club" will grow once I publish this article.. but thats a chance I'm willing to take.
Ok, lets look at the big picture. There are a few "reasons" for an abortion.. regardless of the debate of justification. Rape/incest and form of birth control. You either wanted to have sex or didn't.. and got pregnant. I'm not trying to sound insensitive here.. I just want to make sure that we're clear on things.
If someone has been forced into incest or has been raped and ended up pregnant.. well thats only adding insult to injury. I understand that entirely. I'm sure that there are a malody of emotions that one goes through when their dealing with this. I guess my questions would be.. why would you want to destroy two lives? yours.. and the unborn childs? You may have not had control over what happened to you.. but you do have control over this childs life. There are families that stand in line everyday to adopt children.. and twice as many women standing in line to abort a child- regardless of the reason. Granted, your going to have to carry a child for 9 months.. but really what would be the greater of the two evils? Having an abortion and dealing with that the rest of your life while ending an innocent childs life.. or giving your child up for adoption into a loving family that will love and benefit from this child after you had to carry it for 9 months? Your going to remember the experience regardless.. how would you rather remember it? If your suggesting that someone get an abortion because their birth control methods were unsuccessful.. well, thats just ridiculous. I think you know where I stand on that one.
Listen, I've never been in a situation where I've had to decide whether ending a childs life before it began would be the right choice or not. I do all I can not to pass judgement on people who have made choices that I can't or won't agree with. My hope would be that its a choice you will think out thoroughly. Remember that its a permanent decision for a temporary "inconvenience" and that there are people who would do anything to be "inconvenienced".
