Current gun control laws are slowly eliminating the American from the right to keep and bear arms. Restrictions are being applied by the looks of the gun in question, for example: An assault style weapon is now being described as a fiberglass or plastic stock resembling the M-16. Adaptations include automatic weapons...which are not available to the general public. The only type of weapon available to the general public is SEMI automatic and revolver style (not including black powder). However, the liberals would like the public to believe that AUTOMATIC weapons are readily available to the general public through purchase from law abiding gun dealers. In fact this is false. Gun dealers are held to strict standards from the federal government and AUTOMATIC weapons are strictly excluded from sales to general public. Liberals (democrats) wants the public to believe that felons who use guns in crimes have purchased them by legal means, when in fact felons do not ever retrieve their weapon of choice by any legal means. Their guns are generally purchased from other felons who have either stolen them from somewhere or had purchased the same weapon from another felon. These guns have usually been used in other crimes and may or may not have been fired and may or may not have killed someone.

We as AMERICANS, have the GOD given right to keep and bear arms. This was written into our constitution by our forefathers. Liberals would like the general public (sheep) to believe that all felons have acquired their weapons by legal means and they have gone through the background check. In all actuality less than 1% of shootings are by someone who has purchased their guns legally.

Shootings like Columbine and Virginia Tech only fuel the Democrats determination to remove guns from the hands of law abiding citizens. This is based on the fact that in both situations those weapons were purchased legally. Federal laws at the current time do not allow citizens under the age of 21 to purchase handguns such as Glock or Smith & Wesson. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed under current laws to purchase a firearm of ANY kind LEGALLY. In both the Columbine and Virginia Tech situations, those who did the shooting were shown to be unstable and there was no one to read the signs of trouble before the shootings happened.

If the Democrats were to be given their way, no one would be able to even own a gun. Take a good look at most gun crimes for a moment. Look at New York and Washington, D.C. for example. They have the most strict gun control laws - citizens are not legally able to have handguns. Now look at the murder rate in these areas. These are the areas with the highest murder rates. It seems that the strict gun control laws in these areas have not helped the situation in the least. It appears that matters have gotten worse.

At one time in Prince William County, Virginia a citizen was required to RETREAT to the furthest point in their own home during a home invasion BEFORE defending themselves. Frankly speaking there is no way on God's green Earth that I would back myself into a corner BEFORE defending myself.
