The case against atheism

I can't be so bold as to tell anyone whether or not God exists, or what to believe about God, but I can give an Agnostic's account of what I dislike about Atheism.

First and foremost, Atheism requires as much faith as religious belief; Just as Christians and Muslims believe that they were made by a Creator that they have never actually seen, Atheists believe that there is no Creator, although they can't possibly know for sure. It makes little sense to abandon religion for lack of evidence that God exists, in favor of of Atheism, when Atheism offers no concrete evidence against the existence of God.

The Atheist can not prove the non-existence of God, and the Christian can't prove God's existence; They both rely on circumstantial evidence. Agnostics are much more scientific; Lacking sufficient data, they suspend judgment until more observations can be made.

Secondly, religious people often cite the Argument from Design, which basically states that a design implies a designer. These people point to the amazing diversity and sophistication of the Earth's creatures as the work of a creative deity, although it could just be a result of random chaotic mutations instead. I'm not sure where I stand on this one, but the collective biology of the animals of our planet is pretty intricate and amazing.

Finally, and the reason that I consider myself a Deist is the idea of "First cause"; Science can explain all the way down to a millisecond after the Big Bang, but clams up when it is time to discuss the moment before. In short, the Universe either was created by an external force (God), created itself from nothing, or has always existed. Personally, I find the idea of a Creator God nearly unbelievable, but it seems plausible compared to the idea of the Universe creating itself from nothing.
