I have a major addiction to chocolate. The only problem is, I'm not really allergic to the chocolate but the caffeine inside the chocolate. Which in the long run eliminates many drinks for me too.
I realized I was allergic to chocolate when I was young. Didn't know what it was about the chocolate that caused my severe blisters and massive swelling, not to mention the deep red in my skin color and the disfiguring.
Later in my teens, after having some tea and coffee, I realized it was more than chocolate. We tried to figure out what it was and the only thing that all of these have in common is caffeine.
When I eliminated all products with caffeine from my system I realized I was no longer going to the ER and that life got much better for me except for the addiction to chocolate. It is so strong that I would sneak two M&M's and end up in the ER. Yes, two M&M's is all it takes.
My allergies are severe and numerous, I don't know all the things I am allergic to and everything I do including go to the ER is a trial and error ordeal. They stand by my side till 15 minutes has passed to see if I react and when I do the nurses take action to fight whatever may happen.
Chocolate (or should I say caffeine) isn't my worst allergy, so to speak, but it is the most annoying as I can't savor the sweet creamy texture and flavor of that one delicacy. Shucks!
