There are several ways vendors can help fund your business. One is by providing you with the necessary goods on a short notification basis. What I mean is, say you have a tee shirt company. You get a better rate for gross purchases, so wait until you have enough orders to actually buy from your vendor. If your vendor knows and has the stock on hand, you can be collecting payment for product you don't already have in stock and actually paying for it out of the money received.
Some vendors willingly float purchases on a 30 day cycle, especially if you are a new, small business and it's not a strain on them. Don't assume, ask. Most would like payment immediately, but anything under 30 is acceptable.
Some vendors may also appreciate advertising you can provide them. Never hesitate to ask. It may get you a lower price.
