About a year ago, I joined an online dating service. I carefully filled out my personality profile, making deliberate note to point out my favorite foods, movies , hobbies, and what I was looking for in a mate. I had a little difficulty uploading my photographs, as I hadn't saved my jpeg files with easy titles, but finally got the job done. I breathed a deep sigh as I hit the "finish" button, hoping beyond much doubt that I might get an email or two in a few days. I wasn't holding my breath, but I really desired to correspond or meet up with a nice gentleman for some company. I had not had any romance in my life in the five years after my husband's untimely death from cancer, and was quite lonely.
Much to my surprise, the next day, I had not one or two emails from possible suitors from the online dating service...I had 65! Sixty -five emails! How could I have doubted myself so much? I , too was worthy of love! A small town Kansas gal, who had a few decades behind her (51 to be exact) and I felt as popular as a school girl! As I began reading the email, one common thread ran through the virtual "letters"...my chest/cleavage! I couldn't understand the fixation on my chest, until I went back to my profile and saw one of the jpeg photos I had uploaded! I was horrified to discover that one of the photos was a cleavage/bra shot I had taken myself with a timer as a joke! (You know, one of those rainy days where you are bored out of your mind, and you...never mind!)
Needless to say, I immediately deleted my profile from the dating service, AND deleted the picture from my hard drive! Often, however, I wonder if those 65 men found the partners with the "assets" they desired...especially that one minister from New England!
