The question itself creates a pigeonhole. The peramiters are defined and so we work within those peramaters. Right vs. wrong. The problem is that we are speaking of opinion and belief, and neither opinion nor belief can be categorized as right or wrong. Therefore we are immediately operating under false pretenses.
Both sides can be argued, but neither side has the one necessity than can sway the argument in favor for or against. That necessity being empirical evidence. Atheism can only be proved to be wrong when irrefutable evidence of the existence of a supreme being comes to light.
The simple fact that a vast majority of the world's population believes in some form or persona of a god, is not in fact evidence. For example, I happen to hold the opinion and belief that the film Titanic is one of the most overrated piece of crap movies ever made. The fact that it is the highest grossing film of all time, and millions of people across the globe disagree with me, in no way changes my personal belief or opinion of that.
The same holds for religion and spirituality. Simply because millions of people believe there is a god, does not in fact make it so. Without evidence, without proof, there is simply no way to know, thus the difference between faith and knowlege.
So ultimately it comes back to the fact that simply having an opinion based solely on conjecture with absolutely nothing to back up that belief can be neither right nor wrong. It just simply is.
