In July of last year, I joined the Dallas chapter of the eBaybes and eMales Meetup Group, from Meetup.com. We have monthly meetings and the occasional casual lunch where we get together at a restaurant, talk, network, and help each other to get ideas and strategies to improve our eBay sales. Each month we have a Back to Basics Class and a guest speaker. We all contributed to an overhead projector so the our Back to Basics teachers and guest speakers could better give their presentations to a large audience.
Last night we had our May meeting. The Back to Basics class was split between two members. One taught us how to sell books, music and other media on Half.com, and the other helped us to understand how to improve our eBay listings' ranking on the search engines. Our guest speaker was from eSeller Street, a service which provides marketing research data for eBay.
I have found these meetings extremely crucial. They have provided me not only with business advice, but also with much needed social support. We also have a message forum where we exchange ideas and brainstorm on solutions to the problems we face as eBay sellers.
It was through this group that I discovered MySpace, and went on to create my profile and start building a network of friends there. It was also my group leader who encouraged me to take the final plunge into working as an eBay affiliate.
Networking and internet organizations are extremely crucial to running a business. I know of a lot of people who couldn't run their businesses without networking. Networking can connect you to potential customers and clients, and also to other businesspeople who are overjoyed to give you extremely helpful business advice on things such as the best selling strategies, and where to source products. I highly recommend that you use business networks to help make the most of your business.
