Businesses should definitely not be required to pay for health care insurance!

An entrepreneur makes many sole decisions in the creation of a company; why shouldn't this courageous individual be granted the right to continue making those decisions without government intervention? Taking away the business owner's right to decide, by legislating a business to pay staff health care insurance, will open the door to several problems, including a loss of jobs.

A business forced to pay for its employees' health care insurance may be burdened with an expense it simply can't bear. And while management tries to abide by the legal imposition, it must pull monies from other areas that may be deemed a higher priority, like expanding a product line or opening another location, creating more jobs.

It is very short-sighted for our society, largely comprised of consumer-oriented members, to place legal demands on entrepreneurs whose efforts have created businesses, and subsequently, jobs. Individuals pushing for more constraints on business owners must reconsider their motivation and intent. Without entrepreneurs, there would be no businesses, no work, and no jobs.

Were a society to impose enough restrictions and laws on the daily operations of businesses, some businesses may not be able to withstand the pressures of all the controls. Their only option would be to close, putting employees out of work. Labor unions and their strikes have proved this to be true; entrepreneurs no longer able to bear either the financial burden or the societal pressures, have finally collapsed the business and moved on.

Should businesses be required to pay for health care insurance? Not unless a society wants to completely overtake private business enterprises. But society should rest easy; a smart entrepreneur will not need government intervention to force him or her into making a good financial decision.

If an entrepreneur sees a benefit in paying employees' health care insurance, then he or she will do it. On his or her own initiative. And for his or her own good financial reasons. That decision, ultimately, will benefit individuals on both sides of the health care issue.
