How to make the most of your shampoo and conditioner

1: Do you use well water or city water:
These are only the basics to beautiful hair. Well water and city water will make a tremendous difference in the outcome of a shampoo, conditioner, and rinse. Most well water contains iron, which is not healthy for the hair. Any health department or spa store can test for iron in the water as well as other minerals and such that can cause hair problems.

If water comes from a well with iron and other mineral deposits, consider using bottled water.

The perfect way to remove any residual build-up in hair from years of washing it in lead and/or mineral laced water from well water is to add a bit of baking soda to shampoo while washing hair, making sure to rinse well and condition to remove excess baking soda. The gritty feeling is normal and will go away after the removal of the residual minerals and iron in the water. If possible, have a hairdresser do it. It is quicker and should be somewhat inexpensive.

2: Are Lead or Metal Pipes in the Home:
If the home previously had well water but now has county and/or city water, depending on the age of the house lead pipes might bring water from the road to the house. This will cause the same problems as above. It is best to have a plumber come in to replace all the lines from lead to plastic. It will cut down on rust stains on porcelain sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets in addition to making life easier at keeping hair in tip-top shape. Changing from lead to plastic pipes is also an excellent way to bring up the resale value of the home as well.

3: Seek High-Quality Salons for trims and cuts:
The second most important part of keeping shampoos and conditioner use working at its best is to find a high-quality salon with hairdressers with the best skills! This writer's personal hairdresser is Don, who owns DS Parada in Raleigh, North Carolina. Stop by one of his two locations for the best cut, color, and hair treatment imaginable. He does wonders with a quad-color, which are four separate colors blended with one's natural color to bring out the highlights in the hair and one's face. Do NOT allow anyone to convince you that a high-end hairdresser will not make it easier to care for hair because it does and the proof is in the pudding so to speak if anyone wishes to take the test. Hairdressers cut hair in a manner that is flattering, stylish, and most of all easy for one to style at home. They remove excess weight in some areas while adding extra weight in others to bring out the best
