Why people struggle with honesty

In my opinion, the reason people struggle with honesty is fear.

People struggle with honesty with their supervisors or bosses because they fear losing benefits, their jobs, current titles within the ranks, demotion, and many perks of the job they currently enjoy by using lying as a work technique.

More people struggle with honesty because they cannot be honest with themselves. Low self-esteem, low self-confidence prevents these people from speaking their minds out of fear that others will not appreciate or even care for any suggestions these frightened people make.

Far more struggle with honesty out of fear of not belonging to a particular group, the in-crowd. I call these people followers without the capacity to lead unless these people learn to let go of the false pretenses and get on with the truth no matter how brutal the truth may be at the time.
Brutal honesty is a wonderful trait to possess. At least the friends one does have respect them for who they are because there is no questioning the honest person's feelings, ideas, or choices.

If I had the choice, as I had a choice given my personality and given traits, I would chose brutal honest over the alternatives, which are cowering, cowardly, non-thinkers who wish for everyone else to give them the answers instead of seeking them on their own. Brutal, yes but honesty is a trait that while brutal or not allows others to know where a person stands no matter which subject matter or person comes into the conversation.

Personally, honesty is not a struggle for me but can understand how it can be a struggle for others. Regardless of the situation, I can be me and am free to be me without placing a facade on the person I am today. I will not bend to dishonesty to gain positioning in a company or to obtain friends. I am a take it or leave it type of person. It is my feeling that if others took this same approach to life, they would be better people psychologically, emotionally, and physically. At least it would allow them to live life on their terms instead of the terms of others.

If one cannot live for himself/herself then why do they live at all? Take back your life. Use honest as your way of taking your life back. Again, at least those who do not agree with you will know where you stand.
