Why shouldn't we abandon governments is the question we should be asking. What have they really done for any of us?
I am Canadian and proud to be. I look over at the states and wonder how so many people can be proud to serve in an army that is basically attacking another country so blindly. Not really knowing what the cause really is. President Bush is the perfect reason why we should abandon governments. He is the reason that if Canada has a draft just to help America I will purposely break my legs just so I don't go over seas somewhere and die because of "friendly fire".
Lets look at the Canadian government. Just as corrupt as any other government. They constantly give themselves huge raises that are higher then any cost of living increases. While the people that they are governing are struggling to get out of poverty. As a young male fresh out of college couldn't find a decent job related to my field that I could even afford to live on I had to switch to working as a laborer in a pasta factory, just to make ends meet. Where as the current Member of parlaments are having a hard time struggling to make their ends meet with over $100 000 in salary a year to work maybe 6-8 months out of the year. My $35 000 a year at 6 days a week is the last thing that they care about. How about another example a single mother raising three kids without the support of an ex(problems with drugs) has to work one full time job and a part time job just to afford rent for her family.
How about if the Canadian government went one year without giving themselves cost of living increases how much money could they put back into the economy?
What about health care? I know in the states you have to buy your coverage but in Canada the basics are covered. Anything else we need to get benefits for. Governments allow factories to pump out countless tons of pollutants into the environment yet they won't cover all of the medical expenses needed to keep its taxpayers healthy.
Why shouldn't we abandon the government? I do know for one fact that no matter who you put in charge we will always have problems.
