How to drive through a tire blowout

I was driving down the road one day and all of a sudden there was a loud pop and my car seemed to start going in its own direction. My friend was sitting next to me and later told me how impressed she was to see a girl handle getting a flat tire like that. She said to me "I would have freaked out!" This got me thinking, so one day, I told her the trick to handling a tire blowout.

First of all, don't panic. DO NOT SLAM ON YOUR BRAKES. Take your foot off of the gas and slow down gradually. Once your car hits a lower speed, usually about 15 or 20, you can begin to apply the brakes, but not too hard, do it slowly.

Second of all, when your tire blows out, you will experience jerking in the steering wheel. Make sure you keep control of the car without over compensating and veering into other lanes of traffic. Flow into the direction the wheel jerks and then slowly pull back to where you need it to be to take control.

Once you finally stop, be safe. Do not pull your car over in an area where traffic is frequently moving, because you car is much nicer when it is not wrecked.
