Start by helping keep our environment clean by doing away with chemical and trash refuse in the manner recommended by your local governmental boards.
Call your local, state and federal governments to learn about programs that relocate threatened wildlife from developing areas to protected lands. Also, wildlife councils both locally and nationally are geared to protecting endangered species; these agencies are always ready to assist.
All states have conservation boards, programs, and organizations that are begging for your support and views. Look in your local telephone directory or search the Internet to find them.
Another way to help is to develop your own project whether calling your local extension service for information on ways to obtain and plant wild flower seed, which is an excellent way to preserve and feed lands and birds. You might also find a wild critter to adopt living somewhere near your dwelling.
Here's a personal example: Twenty years ago when I moved to the country I fell in love with the gopher tortoise and have kept part of my property virgin so the threatened specie and move about freely.
