You're all set. You've bought your new PlayStation 3, you have your favourite RPG, you've set aside hours of time to enter your VR world of armed conflict, and when you get home you see that your 12 year old television, which you so proudly bought second-hand with your first paycheck, has neither S-Video nor RCA input jacks. Only a solitary coaxial cable input protrudes from the back of the television. How are you going to connect your high-end game machine to your low-end television?

This is where an RF modulator comes in. Simply put, it's a means of converting the multiple outputs (red, white audio, and yellow video) of newer media machines (DVD player, game machine) to a single coaxial input for use on televisions without the multiple input jacks.

RF (for Radio Frequency) modulators sell for anywhere from ten to forty dollars and can include multiple inputs with switching capacity, or single inputs for one-to-one connectivity. Don't throw out that old working television yet. Use an RF modulator to connect your new toys!
