POWER OF A VOICE
A Mic in my hand is all that dims pain
A feeling I want again and again
Music becomes my escape
I begin to imagine the life I could make
This path chose me
It wasn't my choice
I learnt to use the greatest power there ever was
The power of my own voice
You can tell a story relate to a life
Reach out to people in a way impossible to describe
Mental scars hurt more than physical
I truly believe pain can make you invincible
Nothing can hurt me or bring me down
Because of the voice I have found
I can tear you down
Tell you my plans
Hurt you without using my hands
At the same time
Give you strength
Take you higher than ever before
Give you a reason to believe
Remind you what you live for
All by using the greatest power there ever was
The power of a voice
And so begins the urge to write
Putting pencil to paper all through the night
The hardest part is learning to write from your heart
Don't be afraid don't hold back
Let it be anything but confidence you lack
Take someone who doesn't understand life
Doesn't know wrong from right
Never shown basic things
Doesn't know or care what the day brings
Life is lived on the edge
Trained to have no emotion and be fearless
Nothing eases pain like music to the ears
In lyrics are messages of hope
Life spelt out in words of others
Images of truth on CD covers
And every time you grab a Mic and say
Something that's played on your mind all day
You realise your voice can take you to the top
As long as you have it there's no reason to stop
The greatest gift and its free
The voice that lies inside me
