I have very many early childhood memories, staring from age two onward.
I can actually remember my earlier walking phase, where I was able to recognise whether or not I had confidence in being unassisted as I moved around the house on two wobbly legs. I also remember strong feelings of securtiy as I abandoned this excersise for the safety of crawling! My parents tell me that I was still two years old when this memory was locked into place.
Another vivd memory (age three) is of my ability to operate my parents' stereo system (amplifier only) while listening to classical records (although I had to get Mum or Dad to put the record on the turntable). I was strongly hypnotised by classical music at this age (I could even identify composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Bach just by listening to them), and I suspect this paved the way for my active involvement in music to the present day (I am a composer, recorder and performer).
Other notable early chilhood memories include driving my mother's car into the back of another car when I was about 3-and-a-half years old (just by releasing the handbrake and letting the car roll)! I don't remember the consequences afterward though. Also, I have many memories of backyard games with my siblings, especially between ages three and four, let alone a vast number of other memories from this age.
