I had read an article a year or so ago outlining Osama's stipulations for ending war. It had mentioned in the article towards the beginning that the United States Government didn't agree with the terms that Bin Laden was setting upon us in order to achieve peace. Granted, I wouldn't trust Osama as far as I could throw him, but I do agree to SOME of his terms. Mainly the extraction of our forces out of the middle eastern region, and for us not to interfere with the matters of others.
I believe that we get into half of the problems we get into just by simply sticking our nose where it isn't wanted. We're so worried about who has what weapon, which countries have starving children, what country needs to be converted over to diplomacy, etc, and we don't focus on us. We don't care that we have a huge deficit, that we owe tons of money for this war, the young are uneducated, the old are helpless, and millions of our own citizens go barefoot, homeless, and are unemployed. And this number is not decreasing. It's like the t-shirt I recently saw on a young man; "After we save Iraq, can we please save the schools?" Nice to see where our priorities lie. If we weren't so arrogant, and didn't worry about everyone else, we wouldn't have to worry that Korea may launch stuff at us, Afghanistan won't send their minions to bomb us, Iran won't cook up new plans for chemical warfare.
As far as this "war" in Iraq, it doesn't seem like we're doing very much good over there. We aren't rebuilding any, and there are still really pissed off people walking around. Want proof? Look at all the suicide bombings that are still taking place. Look at the number of our sons, daughters, wives, etc that are being killed still. They don't want our supposed help, and they resent the fact that we're there.
As far as I'm concerned, let Iraq sink. Let North Korea re-invade South Korea. Let the Palestines and whoever all else fight over the Gaza Strip. Let one religion pit against another. You know what? Let nature happen. Whatever happened to survival of the fittest? That can't take place if we're trying to save the world. Remember the anagram we were taught as kids: MYOB. Let's get back to that.
