The WWE will be just fine. We can all complain about the quality of the shows but it makes the experience even worse when you can check online for spoilers and results. Not knowing what's going to happen is half the entertainment. Nowadays you can check for spoilers and backstage news. It becomes too realistic. When you read about HHH's power backstage or the Matt/Edge/ Lita saga, you tend to focus on their behavior rather then what they do in the ring.
Right now, there is just a lack of superstars who can wrestle and have the mic skills. There is just a lack of superstars. We had the Rock, Austin, and Jericho who could do both and play both heel and face effectively. Now there is Cena. He's probably the best on the mic out of the new generation but he is average in the ring. Edge is very good on the mic and in the ring, but he's just not there yet in terms of popularity. It will be interesting to see how the fans will respond to him when he eventually turns face. Orton is always in trouble and is just not there yet. Batista is average in the ring and average on the mic.
The mid card is virtually non existent now. The Intercontinental Title has little value. It started to improve when they put the title on Jeff Hardy and gave it some value. Since then, it's been used as a prop for Umaga and given to a "fan." They aren't using it to build guys up.
The tag team division is dead. If you think back to the Attitude Era and early 2000s, the main event was good, but the tag team matches usually stole the show. This division would serve as a buffer. The star power in the main event is enough to entertain people but they get their kicks in the tag team matches. The countless E&C/Hardys/Dudleys matches usually stole the show. Now you only have the main event, and when that dissappoints, there's really nothing else to focus on.
Things will improve when we get some new generation superstars and some importance is put into the mid card and tag team division.
