meals that will be eaten and the number of people, throw in a lot of snacks, water, and pop, and no one will go hungry. Preplan easy meal ideas. Hot dogs, lunchmeat sandwiches, and hamburgers accompanied with potato salad, chips, or soup make great lunches. Reserve one night for steak. If you plan to cook chicken, boil it before hand to make grilling fast and easy. Corn on the cob grilled in its husks is a favorite, but make sure you soak it for a few hours before cooking.
Pringles are great for camping because they don't end up crushed. Other great snack ideas are trail mix, granola bars, Little Debbie snacks, oatmeal cookies, jiffy-pop popcorn, and S'mores.
Keep your coolers stocked with ice. You can freeze meat that you do not plan to use until day three or four.
Many campgrounds have a camp store that sells all the items you might possibly forget and a lot more. The general stores at state park properties usually sell souvenirs, candy, ice cream, and more. If there is no camp store where you are staying, chances are there is a convenience store within driving distance. Therefore, if you forget something, all is not lost.
PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER
Before any trip, you should always make sure your car is going to get you to your destination safely. Check the tires, fluids, and lights before you leave, and always let a friend or neighbor know about your travel plans.
If you or someone in your group is on medication, bring enough to last you through the trip and notify a family member about your travel plans.
Call ahead before you leave to see if the property you are visiting has any vacancies left. Popular parks fill up quickly on the weekends. Making reservations insures that you will have a spot when you arrive.

Good planning, common sense, and safety are the keys to having an enjoyable carefree vacation.
