The East coast somtimes gets a bad rap for surf but some of the best contests are on the east coast Now the Northern East coast really is not the best place for surfing the only time you may get some decent swells is when there is a storm or a hurricane has effected the water's. The further south you go the better Virginia Beach oh and the Carolina's Avalon pier and 1st street, Cape Hatteras, Carolina Beach, Myrtle Beach, Folly Beach
Georgia has some hot spots And Florida here are a few great places Jacksonville, Cocoa Beach, Fort Lauderdale.
There still are a lot of surfers in the North East but remember storms get You better swells.
York beach, Narragansett ,Seabrook, Hampton and you can even find some hot spots in Long Island. Often where I live now in RI the big question from students is "where are the waves? When a hurricane effects the waters you will sure find the surfers are out. your best bet for all your information on the best place the weather reports and swells is at http://www.surfline.com
