Typically Venture Capitalism is associated with technology and technological industries and happens mostly in the US.
The "Dot.Com" boom of the late 90s is most often associated with Venture Capitalism. Many start-up Internet companies and computer companies took over Seattle and the Silicon Valley of California and only a small number of them survived. Many investors and new business owners suffered, but companies like Google, eBay, and MySpace.com have managed to survive and become extremely successful.
