Becoming a professional dancer takes time. It takes proper training, hard work and dedication. The first step is to start taking a class. There is a difference between being somebody who dances, and a trained dancer. The difference? Legitimate training from qualified instructors. Choosing a reputable instructor is important, since a poor instructor will teach poor technique.
Dancing in classes is not enough, unless you dance in classes that graduate into a professional troupe, such as some ballet companies. So to become a professional dancer, joining a group that performs is imperative. Performance is an integral part of dance. A dancer that cannot perform, or has no performance experience, again is not a dancer, but instead is a person who is dancing.
Regardless of age, the are always beginners dance classes. Looking in a local leisure guide, or community centre. There are even more opportunities for children. The first step for children or adults, is to start. Professional dancers are much more than talented dancers, they are the whole package from practice to production. Engaging the audience is also part of being a professional dancer. Train to develop technique, and perform to develop stage presence. Be dedicated and patient, and you will be on your way to become a professional dancer.
