Don't be in too much of a hurry to get rid of your gray hair. It can look great. As long as it's in good condition and cut well, then perhaps you should make the most of it. We all know that men can get away with looking "distinguished" when it comes to gray hair. Women, on the other hand, are led to believe that they just look "old" or have let themselves go. In fact, anyone with gray hair who regularly visits the hairdresser knows that hairdressers always refer to gray as silver! It's not always true that gray hair ages a woman. I have seen numerous women with gray hair who have looked glamorous and gorgeous. Maybe it's the attitude of acceptance you need, too.
However, if you're not convinced of any of that and hate your gray hair then you can get rid of it. Well, perhaps not "get rid of it", as the only way to do that would be to cut it all off. So "disguise" it might be a better term. There are a number of hair dyes you can use, specially formulated for gray hair - which is courser than non-gray hair - that will cover it well. One word of warning though would be that if you are going to dye your hair a slightly darker shade (and it will be if it's covering gray), then try to stick to a shade that's as close to your natural hair color as possible. Bear in mind, too, that your skin tone changes as you age, so while that nice dark auburn color might've looked great on you when you were in your thirties, it might not be the case now a few decades later.
If you're concerned about using chemicals on your hair to cover your gray, there are a number of reported "natural" methods that can prevent hair from graying or stop it graying further if you've only the odd strand or two. These natural remedies include a host of options ranging from taking copper, zinc, and brewer's yeast supplements to applying coconut oil to your hair. Whether these actually work is another matter, but if you desperately want to stop your hair from graying and want to do so in a more natural way than using commercially-produced hair dye then they might be worth a try.
If applying chemicals to your hair doesn't bother you, then one effective way to disguise gray is to have your hair highlighted - this works well if your hair is light, or you've always bleached your hair. If the highlights are a platinum or beige blonde as opposed to, say, a yellow-blonde, this could work quite well. And with this technique, there's no need to worry about re-growth as it's not quite as obvious as when you use an "all-over" color. Don't be afraid of gray hair though. Give it time first to get accustomed to the new you to see how it looks - you might be pleasantly surprised.
