A VOIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) call is when you use your computer or phone with adapter, also needs high speed internet, to make a phone call to a phone or another computer. To acces the Voip service you have to type on your computer or call with a phone with special VOIP adapter and it will transmit your voice data into digital data and then its sent to a special VOIP service provider. The service provider either sends the data back to another phone with adaptor or a computer. The advantages are that you cant talk to anyone all over the world without having to worry about paying extra for long distance or talking to long. The disadvantages is that your kicked when theres a power outage, 911 does not always work and no yellow/white pages.

Yes you can use your cellphone to make a VOIP call. Motarola came up with a phone that can switch from cellurar to VOIP during a call. When you subscribe to the BT Fusion it will enabel you to use your bluetooh to enable VOIP.

The Nokia phone,6136 and Motorola A910, use their wifi connection instead of bluetooth to enable VOIP.

Other companies like Sprint,T mobile others are also getting into the market. They need something that will compete with the cheaper internet home phone calling services, like SKYPE.
