There are many ways to make money on the Helium website. If you're diligent and you post articles regularly, you will begin to see a regular income. However, writing for Helium can be a bit frustrating when you're first getting started, when you see only pennies in your account or worse, no income at all.
The most important thing is to write often and to write well. Write about the topics that you enjoy and that interest you. Carefully research any topics that you are not very familiar with. Type your articles in a word processing program or text editor and save them on your hard drive before submitting them. Be sure to submit at least half of your articles to competitive titles so that you can get a high rating. Spell check your article, proofread it, then proofread it again before hitting the "Submit" button. You can also copy and paste articles that you've already written, even if they've been previously published. If they're published online, make sure that your profile on the other site has the same pen name and byline to avoid confusion.
Next, you must rate daily. You will need at least one rating star to earn income on the Helium website. If you keep your rating quality high, you can accomplish this with fewer rates. When rating, be sure to take the time to read both articles carefully so that you can make an informed decision as to which article is more valuable. For best results, wait an hour or more before rating another article.
Once you have a good portfolio of articles on the site that rate well you will begin to earn writing stars. Then, you will qualify for upfront pay. When you have only one writing star, this upfront payment will be quite small per article. However, as you earn more writing stars you can qualify for as much as $2.50 per article upfront pay. If you write for a new title with no articles, or suggest your own title and beat the other writers to the punch, you can earn an additional dollar. Be sure to have your article already written before you submit the suggest title to Helium to ensure that you get your empty title bonus.
Create your "About Me" page to make your portfolio look more professional. Include a short biography of yourself and your writing credentials, if any. Upload a small, recent picture of yourself.
When your "About Me" page is complete and your portfolio has a hundred articles or more, begin posting articles to the Helium Marketplace, which is a place on the Helium website where publisher submit article
