Book reviews: Ultrametabolism: The simple plan for automatic weight loss, by Dr. Mark Hyman

In January, as part of my New Year's Resolution, I purchased the book "UltraMetabolism". In the first 10 days, I lost 11 pounds, while not being hungry, and having a lot more energy than usual. My gray hair vanished, and my fingernails grew long and strong. I stayed on the diet for a strict 4 weeks, and though my weight did fluctuate from week-to-week, I still ended up with the 11 pound weight loss that I have kept off for 4 months now.

The basis of the UltraMetabolism diet is very simple: EAT ALL NATURAL FOODS. That is basically it. If you follow the plan exactly, you will begin with 2 weeks of cleansing, which eliminates common allergens from your diet. Then, you add those foods back in, while continuing to eat only all-natural foods and avoiding, especially, high fructose corn syrup. One more catch: you eat chocolate every day! You do not count calories, fat grams, carbs, or stick to a particular portion size.

This is by far the best diet I've found. It makes sense, it is healthy, it is smart. It's easy to continue for life, every day. If you also switch to a mainly vegetarian diet, including fish, you will really improve your health and your life.
