Comfort can be established when trying a car. Seating position should give good lumber support, and be adjustable, not just forwards and backwards, but with the back of the driver's seat able to be adjusted for different body shape. Other factors of comfort that may be considered important are air conditioning, position of accessories, adjustment of rear seats, and above all, visibility, as a car that has blind spots isn't the safest and if you have to strain to look in mirrors, then it certainly won't be the most comfortable either.

Looking up the safety record of cars will help in deciding how solid the maker's claims are, and help eliminate even more vehicles from the search.
