Deciding which is the best highway car is a little subjective. Each person will have their own needs, and in order to find that car that qualifies as the best highway car, the following criteria need to be decided before even looking at what each model offers:
*What will it be used for ?
*How many passengers will it need to carry ?
*What kind of loading capacity will you need ?
*Budget you are working with.
Deciding what the car will be used for is important, since if used for in town work, the needs will vary from those cars chosen for long haul journeys. Whereas on shorter journeys an owner may tolerate for example not having equipment like air conditioning, in a warm climate for long haul travel, it will be considered an essential.
How many passengers you need it to carry matters. For family use, the perfect car wouldn't be a two seater, and deciding these needs eliminates certain cars from the picture. If carrying disabled people, different access will come into play. Also is there a separate place where your pet could travel if appropriate. Choosing which is the best highway car really is a question of elimination.
What kind of load you feel that you will be carrying is important, since this may determine how much space you need in the trunk, and whether rear seats can be collapsed for larger loads.
The last deciding point is budget. A car that costs a million won't be the best highway car for those with a small budget, so deciding how much you can afford to spend will eliminate even more models from the equation.

Having decided the above factors, the next things to consider are what the cars in your price range offer that makes one better than another. Here, many factors come into play:
*Economy
*Power
*Comfort
*Fu el type
*Environmentally friendly
*Innovative
*Solid build
*Reputation for reliability
*Corrosion protection
*Guarantee
*Insurance and running costs
Economy cars are valuable and should be the front-runners in the search on a budget, since these will not consume too much fuel, and be cheaper to run. Cheap running cost doesn't necessarily mean diminishing quality, since many quality cars are also being built that are more economical, and given that fuel is expensive, this really should be a great asset in running a car.
The power factor is individual preference, though being aware that powerful engines are also gas guzzlers and balancing the two factors one against each other will help to determine the kind of power that suits you. Be aware that turbo engines take
