Best highway car

The best highway car? That's impossible to sum up in a single essay. The vehicle that may be perfect for one highway driver will be hands-down, absolutely out-of-the-question for another driver.

Choosing the best highway car is a very subjective matter, a very personal decision based upon a host of factors. For some, the best highway car is sleek and fast; for others, it may be an economical 7-seater family van, with removable seats.

There are all kinds of practical reasons that should factor into determining the best highway car, like cargo space and gas mileage, but the best highway car, for me, is the one that careens down the highway; smoothly and silently like a jungle cat slipping through the night.

I have such a vehicle; it's a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT. Hemi? Oh yes, it has a 5.7 Liter Hemi V8 engine. That's car snobbery talk for, POWER! And my Black Bullet (she is as black and as shiny as ebony) knows how to eat up the pavement.

With just slight pressure on the gas pedal, my Dodge Magnum soars ahead. I feel a slight lift in her chassis, like a cat gathering itself over its powerful haunches, before it leaps. And she is off, cruising on a velvet cloud of engine hum, no bumps, no creaks, no knocks; my Black Bullet is all class.

But that's me. That's my definition of the best highway car.

Maybe your best highway car is outfitted with ski racks or a trailer hitch. Maybe your best highway car is a tiny European "Mr. Bean" Cooper Mini or an old domestic land yacht (read that as, Chevy station wagon).

Who knows what makes the best highway car! As long as your car makes your soul sing when you hit the open road, who cares?

Okay, one thing is for sure, the best highway car must have a really rockin' stereo!
