How to complain to the kitchen

Many consumers are afraid to voice up if they have a problem at a restaurant. You expect a certain amount of curtsy, and cleanliness when you go into a restaurant. How should you handle the situation if these needs are not met?

The key is to remain calm and address the problem promptly. Most servers will do everything they can to make you happy with their services. If the server is the problem than ask to speak with the manager, but use a little common sense. It's not the servers fault if the restaurant is under staffed and full of customers. If this is the case feel out a comment card, and write down that you feel the service was slow. This will help the restaurant improve so your next experience will be more enjoyable.

Your food has arrived and it's cold, undercooked, overcooked, or just not what you ordered. What should you do? Send it back as soon as you realize there is a problem. Call the server over and explain the problem very calmly. If you feel that the problems are not resolved try talking to the manager and suggest a resolution that matches your complaint. If there is a hygiene issue, you are unlikely to want a replacement meal and would probably just like to leave without being charged. However don't be unreasonable with your request. If you have cleaned your plate, and not said a word until your bill arrives than don't be surprised if they still make you pay for your food.

Keep in mind that your server communicates with the cook, and chances are if you are rude than your food will have an extra special ingredient added to your meal. If you still feel that your overall experience was still unpleasant than spread the word and keep others from having the same experience. Contact your health bureau over any health issues or illness that you encountered.
